The 2009 Swanson Alexis is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibiting aromas of black currant, black cherry, espresso and black licorice. The wine is concentrated, yet not overbearing, on the palate. Finely textured, silky tannins integrate nicely with sweet French oak. The fnish is long and graceful, with persistent black fruits.

Wine Profile

Vineyard Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used for the 2009 Alexis were carefully sourced from small blocks in three vineyards: Schenecker (Rutherford), Sleeping Lady (Yountville), and Blossom Creek (Calistoga). The Merlot fruit came from a small block in our Oakville Cross Road Estate Vineyard. All grapes were sustainably farmed on well-drained alluvial soils.

Winemaker Notes
The 2009 growing season emerged from a relatively dry winter into a warm spring with little frost danger. An inch of rain in May fortunately did not interfere with fruit set. We had a late July heat spike, with only a few days over 100 degrees. Veraison – the transition from green to red fruit – was quick and e˜cient. Temperatures remained moderate throughout the fnal stages of ripening, allowing us to harvest under optimum conditions before heavy rain fell on October 13th.
